Up one level

(Valencia, Spain),
26.05.2008 - 27.05.2008

Open innovation describes a new paradigm being adapted to the global economy of the knowledge society, which signals the wide variety of internal and external sources that generate the knowledge inputs necessary in an innovation process. Innovation is no longer an endogenous process within R&D departments, it is more open, promoting relations, and profiting from new internal and external contributions, while also generating outputs in global markets with more open business models. Mobility and the diffusion of knowledge through the Internet, higher levels of education, the transfer of human capital through enterprises, ease of undertaking and the best exchange between enterprises and suppliers are some of the factors that explain the emergence of open innovation. And, here, universities also play a determining role.

Therefore, now is the best moment to bring together key agents of the innovation process, academics and entrepreneurs, innovation process managers, and innovation innovators in the same location for two days.

(Hanse Office, Avenue Palmerston, Brussels),
27.05.2008 - 27.05.2008

This one day conference provides an opportunity to discuss ways in which universities across Europe can work in partnership to achieve greater industrial and commercial exploitation of research results.

The conference is the culmination of the Framework 6 INNOV7 supported project DIFUSE that has as its goal to explore new ways for joint exploitation of university knowledge.

It provides an opportunity to hear about good practices from the participating universities who are members of an established pan- European university network, the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU).

Above all the organisers would like to instigate an open discussion about the future of innovation and knowledge transfer in universities that are faced with the challenge of balancing working with companies, especially SMEs; in a regional context; expected to grow technology businesses; to educate their students for the global economy as well as perform top class research.

The conference provides a forum to provide impulses to European policies concerning the role of universities, and how they can be supported to support each other.
