Nano membrane for clean water production

DTU Nanotech at The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) coordinates a project, which will result in the upscaling of a membrane to be 20 x 20 cm. By the end of the project the membrane will be marketed.

The project is carried out in a consortium of the POEM group of DTU Nanotech, two other DTU departments (Physics and Chemical Engineering), MEMPHYS at South Danish University, and the companies Novozymes and AQUAporin. This new purification method is much more efficient and it is markedly cheaper than other methods. Large amounts of energy can be saved by purifying through the aquaporin membranes, because the required pressure for the process is lower.
